What can we expect in the next decade?

Had any thoughts yet? I have – plenty and judging from the number of media inquiries it appears lots of other people are also curious to know what might lie ahead in the next year or next decade. I’m putting my thinking hat on so that we can consider what 2010-2019 might hold, the second decade of this century, as well as some ideas for the short term futures for 2010. And what are your thoughts – by all means let me know

Some initial thoughts are that sometime in the next decade we’ll have a solid customisable offering for personal medicines that are likely to be based on genetic coding.  We’ll see humanoid robotics in health care in Japan spill into other applications such as train stations; we’ll see an increase in pressures on water consumption in Australia with in-fighting amongst seemingly cohesive groups like farmers; and there will be a major increase in citizen action by-passing real or perceived blockages in the Government arenas in areas such as carbon trading, water and intellectual property.  I’ll probably post a lot more on these topics early in the year.  In the meantime, let me know your own thoughts or ask any futures related question via email
