The Trucking Industry is facing a crisis. It needs to Act. NOW

The Trucking Industry, as a key part of the wider Supply Chain and Logistics Industry is coming to the end of an era, right at the time when it should be being refreshed. Put simply, there just aren’t enough drivers for trucks, and to date, attempts to recruit more drivers have been less that what is required. The immediate result is two fold: trucks are getting bigger with more trailers being added; and drivers are facing ever tougher delivery times. And that leads to a further impact –

 

an increase in the number of drivers, in particular owner drivers, facing demands by their customers, that place them in a very difficult position. That position sees drivers pushing an ever tightening delivery schedule in order to stay afloat. Deliver on time (as demanded by the end customer) or do not get paid.
