Official Reports for Travelers – who should you believe?

After a great although too brief trip to Islamabad in Pakistan, I joined Vicki Kerrigan on ABC Radio Darwin to discuss the idea of official reports for travelers and who you should believe. Sometimes we fear the unknown because we aren’t well enough informed. In the absence of any other information, the Official line is probably the best though at no time did I feel concerned though I remained (as a stranger) cautious.

This was off the basis of feeling quite safe in Islamabad despite being cautious before arriving as a result of the Australian Government’s Smart Traveller website advising people to stay away from Islamabad if possible.  I discovered that not only did I feel fine walking around, I’d felt far less safe in some parts of Australia.  I suggested that being as well informed as you can is a good place to start.  You can download the MP3 via this link – Marcus Barber and Vicki Kerrigan on ABC Radio Darwin
