If that, then what? The question that unlocks almost everything

Decision making is an interesting field of inquiry. I’m about three months in to a long term contract with an organisation working on enabling its people to be more effective and the thought that keeps popping into my head is ‘Start with the End’

When you start with the end in mind (know your desired destination) then you get a single question that emerges to guide your decision making – If That, Then What?’

What are the implications, what will we need to have by way of capabilities, how should we best utilise our resources, what are the big issues we need to deal with?

It’s the difference between maintaining ‘busy’ actions based progress toward one of effectiveness and productivity. Start with Your End, then ask – ‘If that, then what?’
