Employee Engagement starts with a Deliberate Exploration of Futures

Some thoughts flowing from my session discussing challenges in Futures Consulting posted by James Balzer: I’d explained to the group that what I do is engage employees in thinking about their own and their organisation’s future potential. My strong view over twenty years of work in this space is that employee engagement is DIRECTLY driven by the extent to which your employees are engaged in thinking about and preparing for the future.  Further almost ALL planning efforts will fail when there is a disinterest or disconnect in futures thinking applied to the needs of the organisation or individual. It does not matter whether that plannign is top end Strategic, a day to day operational plan or even a business unit plan

Per James:
This was part of the monthly Association of Professional Futurists – APF monthly “fireside chat” webinar, co-hosted by myself and Steve Tighe, with the wonderful support of Jocelyn Cheung.

???? Consulting in the futures/foresight space has many great things about it, including unique clients and interesting challenges.

???? However… with these very clients and problems often being challenging and complex, it’s necessary to manage expectations and take on the right clients and the right problems, particularly those suited to your interest and expertise.
