Beyond VUCA – the VUCA 2.0 concept

Most people who’ve been involved in planning and strategy development will have heard of VUCA – Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous. Emerging out of the US War College in 1987, it’s come to be more widely used by consultancies aiming to at least ‘sound smart’. But that’s not the main problem with its usage

 

Instead the main problem is what you do with the IMPLICATIONS of having an increased VUCA understanding. That is after all, where the rubber hits the road! It’s time for VUCA2 – Overview here #VUCA to #VUCA2

What we are shifting from is an awareness of the conditions to taking action as a result of those conditions. VUCA as a framework for understanding is fine but the next question is ‘NOW WHAT?”  The Now What’ is taking action and leveraging VUCA 2.0 to do so
