Towards an Advanced Society - the Paradox of Development

In 2010 I wrote a paper, the summary of which included an assessment of the emerging challenges facing many societies around the world, simply that multinationals failing to pay sufficient dues to enable a society to develop, will see a backlash from which they may not recover. That time is upon us
That summary said:
If multinationals fail to 'pay their dues' by shifting profits overseas and out of the hands of the nations reliant on tax to fulfill social obligations, the Tobin tax, GTOPE or similar models will come into play as governments address revenue decreases and (level six VS) community groups grow hostile. These ideas represent both a challenge and opportunity for organisations as they deal with sustainability needs locally and around the world.
Also in that paper (found in this link) I proposed a Theory of Advanced Societies and an Advanced Societies Paradox. Essentially societies MUST continue to develop or they will decay. Simultaneously development must not occur through an increased environmental footprint. The approach applies as much to societies as it does to individual companies.
For Boards, CEOs, and Senior Managers, the decision framework can no longer ignore or be isolated from a Supply Stream of Production. The days of ignoring downstream impacts are gone. The days of placing 'responsibility' OF RESPONSIBILITY in the hands of 3rd parties through some form of supply agreement are GONE. Companies no longer have a choice about incorporating a comprehensive view of how their organisation fits into a system of actions. It only has a choice as to how it will deal with the impacts from doing, or not doing so

Here we are with the last posting of the year looking at the potential for wide ranging strategy for a country like the United States. Arguably the United States is undergoing its own version of #Brexit though without the vote of the people. Instead the dictatorial nature of what I see as an incompetent strategic leader is unilaterally withdrawing the USA from its long standing and beneficial partnerships with the rest of the world.
